Inspection, Testing & Maintenance
Inspection & testing is carried out to AS1851 (2012), the recognised Australian Standard for the routine service of fire protection systems & equipment. The purpose of routine testing is to ensure the fire equipment, systems and services are safe, reliable and constantly perform the way they were intended.
We strive to deliver service in a manner which enables the client to easily identify that the routine inspection & testing is being carried out in a timely fashion, and as per Code requirements.
We achieve this by utilising the SimPRO Service Management System, which automatically prompts all levels of routine tests due.
We provide result reports for systems tested on a 6 monthly and annual basis, and any rectification works are quoted prior to proceeding.
In conjunction with the Annual Fire Safety Statement (AFSS) process we issue an “AFSS Explanatory Document” that explains complex issues, the relevant Code requirements & the methodology used when testing.
Service Tags are applied to:
- Hose reels
- Fire Hydrants
- Fire doors, solid core doors
Test Log Books – Provided by the Fire Protection Association of Australia, for:
- Sprinkler systems
- Fire alarm systems and EWIS
- Fire system pumpsets
Fire Equipment Lists
All fire equipment is recorded in SimPRO. Our rectification quotes will nominate the type and location of equipment found defective during testing. A full equipment list can also be issued for your information upon your request.
Equipment Servicing Tracking
We track when 5, 10 and 25 yearly servicing activities are due to ensure your systems are maintained to the required standard. These are a required under AS1851 – 2012.
24/7 Call Out Service
AFT Fire Protection provides an emergency “call out” service. It operates 24/7 and is a user pays service.
Annual Fire Safety Statements (AFSS)
In conjunction with our inspection, testing & maintenance service, we carry out the assessment, report & upgrade or rectification works (where necessary) of essential fire safety measures and prepare the Annual Fire Safety Statement to comply with the Environmental Planning & Assessment Regulation 2000 Part 9 and local Council requirements.
5 Yearly Hydrant Testing (Hydrostatic Pressure & Booster Flow Test)
Most companies offer the Hydrostatic Pressure Test but not the Booster Flow Test.
This test simulates Fire Brigade operations when firefighting – under the designed water flows & pressures. This test proves there are no obstructions or impediments between the booster arrangement, the fire pump bypass and the most remote hydrant valve. This test is often NOT performed but is arguably the most critical. Refer to the “Flow Testing” section of this website for more detail of this testing
Upgrades & Renovations
We install, upgrade & modify fire systems & equipment.
Council often requires the upgrade of essential fire services within premises. We interpret Council Fire Orders and assist clients to manage the upgrade path.
Upon completion of upgrades Council then requires a “sign off” site inspection.
